A produção apícola no município de São Bentinho/PB: um estudo sobre a inclusão do mel na merenda escolar local à luz do programa nacional de alimentação escolar.

Abstract

The study investigated the need for empowerment of the beekeeping sector in São Bentinho PB. Assuming that the National School Feeding Program (Law No. 11,947/ 2009) provides for the possibility of direct purchases of food by public schools through the financial resources provided by the National Fund f or the Development of Education (FNDE), we sought to elaborate a model of municipal decree that would make possible the integration between local honey producers and the municipality in order to achieve the opening of a solid and durable consumption channe l of this product. For that, the relevant legislation was analyzed in detail, as well as the characteristics of the Beekeepers Association of São Bentinho / PB. It was found that the decree is the appropriate legal instrument and can be used by the Municip al Government for this purpose, since the legislation has already provided specific guidelines that strengthened the mechanism of direct purchase of local family farming products for school meals. The work presented, as final product, a model of decree to be sent to the Chief Executive of the São Bentinho City.
