???metadata.dc.description.resumo???: O estudo teve como objetivo geral, investigar o comportamento das estudantes dos cursos da área de saúde do Centro de Educação e Saúde, da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Campus Cuité-Paraíba, quanto ao uso de métodos contraceptivos. Pesquisa do tipo descritivaexploratória com abordagem quantitativa, que efetivou uma entrevista no mês de fevereiro, junto a 105 universitárias dos cursos de Enfermagem, Farmácia e Nutrição, sendo 35 de cada curso. Os resultados revelaram que, a maioria (79%) possuía idade entre 18 e 23 anos, 38% tinham uma renda entre 1 e 2 salários e 61% estavam solteiras. Em relação à caracterização ou perfil sociodemográfico das estudantes por curso e respectivos períodos, verificou-se que entre às alunas de Enfermagem, 11 cursavam o 8º e 9º períodos, já o 2° período de Nutrição se sobressaiu com 8 universitárias e o curso de Farmácia se destacou com 8 discentes do 6° e do 7° períodos. No que concerne à idade de início da vida sexual, 61% citou a faixa etária entre 16 e 21 anos, entretanto, 23% da amostra mencionou que ainda não havia iniciado a vida sexual. Quanto à atividade sexual, ciclo menstrual e uso de métodos contraceptivos, identificou respectivamente 55% sexualmente ativas, 80% com ciclo menstrual regular e 56% que fazem uso de algum método contraceptivo; No quesito dos métodos contraceptivos utilizados, se destacaram, respectivamente, as pílulas anticoncepcionais (38%), a camisinha (33%) e o coito interrompido (12%). No que se refere à consulta médica ou de enfermagem, bem como a orientação para a escolha do método contraceptivo e seus respectivos riscos, destaca-se que 61% das entrevistadas foram a consulta destas 79% referem ter recebido orientação quanto ao método e 64% foram alertadas acerca dos seus riscos; Quanto aos efeitos colaterais, 46% fez alusão que sentia e 54% assintomática, sendo as náuseas os mais citados, por 22 entrevistadas, o aumento de peso, por 17 alunas, 13 discentes mencionaram cefaleia, 7 delas referiram vômitos, 6 possuíam sensibilidade nas mamas e 5 relataram cólicas. É notório que muito ainda precisa ser feito no tocante à saúde pública, na tentativa de direcionar ações às escolas, faculdades, centros, institutos e universidades. Portanto, sugere-se que consultas sejam realizadas junto a esses espaços estudantis a fim de suscitar a realização de orientações quanto a saúde sexual e reprodutiva de adolescentes e jovens, destacando entre elas aspectos que permeiam os métodos contraceptivos. Acredita-se que esta iniciativa possa contribuir para a diminuição dos índices de gravidez não planejada e infecções sexualmente transmissíveis, especialmente nos grupos mais jovens.
Abstract: The study aimed to investigate the behavior of the students of the health of the Center for Education and Health, Federal University of Campina Grande, Paraíba, Campus Cuité regarding the use of contraceptive methods. The research was descriptive and exploratory quantitative approach, which effected an interview in February, along with 105 university courses in Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, 35 in each course. The results revealed that the majority (79%) had between 18 and 23 years, 38% had an income between 1 and 2 salaries and 61% were unmarried. Regarding the characterization or demographic profile of students per course and respective periods, it was found that among the nursing students, 11 were enrolled in 8th and 9th periods, since the 2nd period of Nutrition excelled with 8 universities and Pharmacy course is highlighted with 8 students from the 6th and 7th periods. Regarding the age of sexual initiation, 61% cited the age group between 16 and 21 years, however, 23% of the sample mentioned that had not yet begun their sexual life. Regarding sexual activity, menstrual cycle and use of contraceptive methods, identified respectively 55% sexually active, 80% with regular menstrual cycle and 56% who use a contraceptive method; On the issue of contraception used, showed respectively, the birth control pills (38%), condoms (33%) and withdrawal (12%). Regarding the medical or nursing, as well as guidance for the choice of contraceptive method and their risks, highlights that 61% of respondents were consulted these 79% reported having received information about the method and 64% were warned about their risks; Regarding side effects, 46% felt alluded to and 54% asymptomatic, and the nausea and the most cited by 22 respondents, the increase in weight by 17 students, 13 students mentioned headache, 7 of them reported vomiting, 6 had breast tenderness and cramping 5 reported. It is clear that much remains to be done in relation to public health, the attempt to drive actions to schools, colleges, centers, institutes and universities. Therefore, it is suggested that consultations are conducted with these student spaces in order to raise the achievement of guidelines regarding sexual and reproductive health of adolescents and youth, including highlighting aspects that permeate contraceptive methods. It is believed that this initiative will contribute to reduce the rates of unplanned pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, especially in younger age groups.

Por ello, se sugiere que se realicen consultas con estos espacios estudiantiles con el fin de incentivar la orientación sobre la salud sexual y reproductiva de adolescentes y jóvenes, destacando entre ellos aspectos que permean los métodos anticonceptivos. Se cree que esta iniciativa puede contribuir a reducir las tasas de embarazos no planificados e infecciones de transmisión sexual, especialmente en los grupos más jóvenes.
