dc.description.resumoCom os avanços no campo dos Estudos da Tradução, diversas linhas de investigação têm surgido e atraído cada vez mais pesquisadores, sendo uma delas o estudo com paratextos. Assim sendo, esta pesquisa busca analisar elementos paratextuais (capas, quartas capas, prefácios, posfácios e notas de rodapé) em quatro traduções brasileiras do romance A Christmas Carol, do escritor inglês Charles Dickens. Duas delas são traduções do texto integral: Um conto de Natal (L&PM/2003) e Um Cântico de Natal (Landmark/2010). As outras duas são adaptações: O Natal do avarento (Scipione/2000) e Conto de Natal (Rideel/2003). O referencial bibliográfico usado na análise parte dos princípios teóricos de Genette (2009), principalmente; contudo, outros pesquisadores como Alves (2014) e Câmara (2014) também fundamentam a pesquisa deste trabalho. A partir desse estudo podemos verificar como Dickens e o contexto da sua época são apresentados ao leitor brasileiro, de que forma as editoras utilizam esses paratextos, e até que ponto os tradutores de A Christmas Carol tiveram voz nesses espaços paratextuais.pt_BR

dc.description.abstractWith the progress in the field of Translation Studies several lines of investigation have appeared and drawn more and more researchers, and one of those lines is the study with paratexts. Therefore, this research aims to analyse paratextual elements (cover, back cover, prefaces, afterwords and footnotes) in four Brazilian translations of the novel A Christmas Carol by the English writer Charles Dickens. Two of them are translations in full: Um Conto de Natal (L&PM/2003) and Um Cântico de Natal (Landmark/2010). The other two are adaptations: O Natal do avarento (Scipione/2000) and Conto de Natal (Rideel/2003). The bibliographical reference used in the analysis comes from the paratextual theory of Genette (2009), mainly; however, other researchers as Alves (2014) and Câmara (2014) also contribute for the research of this work. From this study was possible to see how Dickens and his era context are apresented to Brazilian readers, in what way the publishers have been used those paratexts, and also see to what extent the translators of A Christmas Carol put their voices in those paratextual spaces.pt_BR
