Jogos de poder: as metamorfoses políticas do grupo Lyra e a ditadura militar na cidade de Caruaru-PE.

Abstract

This dissertation is a historical analysis of the Lyra political group in the city of Caruaru, taking as its basis the period from 1966 to 1985, when Brazil lived under the Military Regime. During this period, Caruaru lived a political scenario in tune with the national dictatorship's plots, so we propose a problematization that addresses the plots of local politics, their strategies and alliances, in order to understand the practices of the Lyra Group. By analyzing the characters and political strategies of this group, our research reveals how their pragmatic actions subsidized their metamorphoses, aiming at their political hegemony. Our dissertation was built from the theoretical contributions of the new political history promoted by René Rémond (1988); discussing political myths from Raoul Girardet (1986); In relation to the socioeconomic status of political elites, we established dialogues with Wright Mills (1982) and counted on discussions by Adilson Filho (2009) about the process of legitimacy of political elites in the inner cities. Our sources were made up of articles from Jornal Vanguarda; Diary of Pernambuco, data from the National Truth Commission and official minutes with the election results of the city of Caruaru.
