Estimativa da pegada hídrica da população rural do município de Pombal - PB.

Abstract

Water is a scarce and essential resource for population and its economic development. The pressures on this resource has been increasing, making it urgent its preservation and effective and efficient management. The water footprint of an individual or of a community refers to the total volume of freshwater that is used to produce the goods and services consumed by the individual or community. This study aimed to estimate the direct and indirect water consumption of the population residing in the rural área of the municipality of Pombal - PB using the water footprint indicator. The method consists of questionnaires dealing with the direct water consumption, food consumption and consumption of industrial goods, the use of extended calculators available from Water Footprint Network to estimate the vague of the indicator and the use gvSIG software for spatial distribution of the results. The results indicate that the vague of water footprint for residents of the rural área of the municipality of Pombal its 940.5 m' / cap/ year , se dose to the vague of the urban área( 957.10 m:/ cap/ year) and lower with the mean vague( 1.240 m'/ cap/ year ) and national ( 1 ,381 m' / cap/ year ) in the literature
