Concepções e práticas do ensino de música na escola pública: as perspectivas docente e discente em escola do Cariri Paraibano.

Abstract

The present work has as its theme Conceptions and practices of music teaching in the public school: the teaching and student perspectives in Cariri Paraibano school, which has as its general objective to analyze and discuss such conceptions and practices of teaching. Specifically, we seek to identify the musical contents worked in the classroom, the didactic resources and methodological strategies adopted by the teacher, and also to investigate the possible benefits of the discipline in the subject's global formation. The research procedures used consisted of observations of music classes in elementary classes, as well as interviews and informal conversations with the music teacher. To analyze the student conceptions about music teaching at school, a questionnaire with open and closed questions was used. The research methodology is thus characterized as qualitative. As results of the study, we realize that the contents, didactic resources and methodologies used by the teacher to teach music are organized in order to historicize the musical knowledge, in a critical and interdisciplinary way, which has brought positive results for the music discipline in school investigated. In addition, in his interview the teacher points out key issues in relation to the current context of music teaching in public schools, highlighting the importance of pedagogical accompaniment in school and the need for curricular definition for this subject. Regarding the student perspective, it was identified that the discipline of music in a public school has been important in terms of the subject's overall development. Thus, from these results, we can conclude that the research problem was answered.
