dc.description.resumoO biomonitoramento é uma técnica bastante viável nos dias atuais utilizada na identificação da qualidade do ar nos grandes centros urbanos. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar os possíveis contaminantes atmosféricos em avenidas principais na cidade de Patos-PB, através da análise de vegetais arbóreos usados como bioindicadores. O estudo foi realizado com material vegetal foliar de espécies arbóreas existentes no centro da cidade de Patos-PB no cruzamento das Avenidas Solon de Lucena/Epitácio Pessoa Pedro Firmino e na Fazenda Nupeárido (área controle) numa faixa linear de 100m. O material foliar, após seco em estufa a 65°C e reduzido, em moinho tipo Wiley, à partículas com dimensões inferiores a 1mm, foi enviado ao Laboratório de Solo da EMBRAPA Semiárido em Petrolina-PE para determinação dos teores dos elementos químicos S, Fe, Zn e C. Os resultados obtido apontam para uma influência relevante da queima de combustíveis fósseis por veículos automotores no aumento dos teores desses elemento, principalmente S, na atmosfera do grandes centros urbanos. As espécies nim e algaroba se destacaram como acumuladores de S, o principal poluente proveniente da queima de combustíveis fósseis.pt_BR

dc.description.abstractBiomonitoring is quite a practicable technique nowadays used in the identification of the air quality in great urban centers. This work had as an objective to evaluate the possible atmospheric pollutants in the main avenues in the city of Patos-PB, throughout the analysis of tree vegetables used as bioindicators. The study was conducted with foliar vegetable material of arboreal species in downtown of Patos-PB. The data were collected in the intersection between Solon de Lucena and Epit‹cio Pessoa Pedro Firmino Avenues, using as control parameters values taken in Nupearido Farm in a lineal strip of 100m. The foliar material, after been dried in stove at 65ŒC and reduced, in a Wiley mill, to particles with dimensions inferior to 1mm. The material was sent to the EMBRAPA Semiarid’s Soil Laboratory Semi‹rido in Petrolina-PE to determine content of the following chemical elements: S, Fe, Zn and C. The results obtained point to an important influence of fossil fuel burn by vehicles in the elements content increase, especially S, in the atmosphere of great urban centers. The species nim and algaroba stood out as accumulators of S, the main polluent due to fossil fuel burn.pt_BR
