Determinante dos gastos e endividamento financeiro: um estudo com os integrantes do 14º Batalhão de Policia Militar localizado na cidade de Sousa - PB.

Abstract

The objective of this work is to identify the determinants of expenses and indebtedness of the members of the 14th Military Police Battalion in the city of Sousa-PB. For this, research techniques were used, such as a case study with a qualitative approach and descriptive procedure, carried out in a military institution in the city of Sousa-PB. The sample was dimensioned based on a population of 225 members and determined by sampling technique considering the probabilistic, random and finite population. The study included all civilian military personnel capable of understanding all the research questions. Information on expenses and indebtedness was collected through a structured questionnaire formulated with direct questions to the study proposal. The results showed that the majority of the civilian military hold the knowledge about financial education learned through courses, for that they demonstrated that they do not have knowledge about financial planning and a large part of them have debts, where it was noted that the origin of these debts is diversified among durable goods , education, health, food, clothing, among others. However, as for the instruments that led to contracting the debt, most of them pointed to the modality of installments, which can be seen as an odious variable of expenses and indebtedness. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the lack of planning and control over spending are determining factors for the uncontrolled personal finances, leading the military to contract new expenses and consequently increasing the levels of indebtedness.
