Abstract

The society has demonstrated recently a concern with environmental issues highlighted in various media. One can consider the fact of natural phenomena and experienced environmental tragedies have instigated this currently, better social reflection regarding the impact caused by human beings to the environment. On this scenario, this survey is the result of a theoretical and empirical study on the measurement of economic benefits generated with the reforestation of the banks of the River Pianco/Piranhas from the deployment project Environmental River (Con) Life in the city of Pombal/PB. This way, the goal of the survey was to measure the benefits generated with the reforestation, as well as identify the expenses required for this reforestation and still keep the socio-economic communities with Environmental Project deployment. The present study was guided considering addition of bibliographic aspects, a practical focus, with the implementation of a questionnaire to riparian owners to Rio Pianco/Piranhas, and a second questionnaire, the technician by environmental project Rio (Con) Life, involving various issues surrounding the reforestation of Rio Pianco/Piranhas with several species of fruit trees. On the analysis of the results achieved with this survey found that the economic benefits generated by investing in the reforestation of the banks of the River Pianco/Piranhas in the city of Pombal/PB can generate income for residents of the banks of the river that surrounds this project, in addition to providing a stimulating the regional economy and the improvement of life of families benefited with the reforestation project.
