Abstract

The feminist movement has changed since its emergence in the late 19th century. until nowadays. In this scenario of changes, several currents of feminism will emerging, or is it better to think of various feminisms? This mostly happens because the concept of woman, generally used in a relationship of difference with that of man and constructed in a hegemonic way, cannot encompass in itself all the specificities of the experience of being a woman. In this essay, I situate the emergence of transfeminism in the time frame of the 10th Latin American Feminist Meeting and the Caribbean, problematizing the hegemonic subject of feminism in order to, from it, point and discuss the existing tensions between Transfeminists and Radical Feminists in the concerning the insertion of Transfeminism in the feminist movement. Furthermore, I propose a discussion of the interfaces between feminist epistemologies and psychology, problematizing its ethical and political role with regard to the debate on the transfeminism.
