Mulheres no poder: um estudo sobre a participação das mulheres nas secretarias do município de Sumé - PB.

Abstract

The political participation of women in Brazil, especially in legislative and executive positions, is small and this results in poor political representation. It turns out that once this national reality is verified, this work aimed to identify other forms of insert women in politics. Thus, this work sought to discover how the participation of women in the Sumé City PB administrative sphere occurs, based on the general objective of: Analyzing women’s political participation in Sumé City PB secretariats. For this purpose, it was done a descriptive research with a qualitative approach, supported by the Oral History method and carried out through documentary data and a questionnaire applied with the current municipal departments. The difficulty in doing the research was due to the lack of systematization and hard access to the data in question. However, the survey revealed that even though women being the majority of the population, as much as the municipal electorate and even the number of public employees in the city, there is no equity in numbers between men and women in the occupation of the secretariats. Also, the secretariats occupied by women are those traditionally related to feminine figure and his role in the labor market, which reinforces a patriarchal pattern present in Brazilian society.
