Cultura material e memórias inventariadas: um estudo sobre a estabilidade econômica e social do patrimônio familiar em Cajazeiras, PB (1876-1889).

Abstract

The present work brings in its pages a study that directed the gaze on the material patrimony of Cajazeirense families that were inventoried between the years 1876 to 1889. The research was based on the transcription and analysis of postmortem inventories of the Archive of Forum Doutor Ferreira Júnior in Cajazeiras, PB. From the information obtained, the discussions revolve around the senses of possession, belonging, symbologies and meanings of the social and family place, established through the Cabedal. In a close dialogue with Moraes (2009), Alencar (2014), Furtado (2009) and Macêdo (2007), we understood that the perspective proposed in this research allowed us to know and appropriate ourselves about the material culture of the time. From this point, the problem of this research was to analyze the importance of composing and maintaining a patrimony, since the consolidation of the social and economic status of these families was strictly conditioned by the assets on their possessions, dialoguing the social phenomenon closely related to the culture/material life of these families.
