Identidade e nacionalismo: uma análise das construções indígenas em Iracema e Macunaíma.

Abstract

The presente work aims to analye the Works Iracema and Macunaíma focused on the construction of the indigenous. Therefore, a theoretical basis was elaborated that delimits the national identity in the indigenous characters Iracema and Macunaíma. Initially there was a survey on the link between Romanticism and Nationalism supported by authors Coutinho (2004) and Candido (2012). Then, emphasis was given to modern nationalism with the support of the authors Castello (2004) and Helena (1995), without unworthy the other authors who follow these strands. Soon after, we sought to list how identity and nationalism are present in José de Alencar and Mário de Andrade and conclude with the analysis of the works Iracema and Macunaíma before the construction of the identity and national figure. This is a documentary research with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The result of the analysis was that in both works there is both the identity and the national presence, but in different ways. Iracema, by José de Alencar seems to soften the colonizer's vision and exalt the heroism of the indigenous figure. Macunaíma, Mário de Andrade, even admiring the work of Alencarina, decides to criticize ufanism and show the Brazilian with all its cultural diversity and its with your defects. From this result, it was considered that it is of utmost importance to respect the form and ideology of each author because even as different opinions they extol their country.
