Abstract

Political rights, especially voting and representation, were marked by the struggle of women in Brazil, the participation of women in relation to men is still very low. Thus, this study intends to contribute to gender discussions in Public Management by analyzing political participation with a case study in the municipality of Monteiro in Paraíba. The present study is a qualitative and quantitative research in City Council archives in relation to the executive in the last 45 years and the legislative in 2000; 2008 and 2020. Application of a questionnaire to two (2) women in the municipal legislature comprising their trajectory and a questionnaire to the Monteirense population in relation to women in local politics. The results obtained in this research made it possible to understand how women are still excluded from the political field, whether by parliamentarians themselves or even the lack of trust in society due to a macho culture of years. Data treatment was performed using descriptive statistics through tables and graphs. A fight for public management without discrimination or exclusion, just fighting beautiful for the good of citizenship, it can be concluded that even today, female participation is still minimal and the existing actions are marked by actions aimed at the good of all without any distinction, in our reality is marked by a policy with a characteristic of family influence.
