O curso de Ciências da Computação da UFCG e o meio técnico-científico-informacional em Campina Grande - PB.

Abstract

Over time, the space in which we live has suffered and constantly undergoes several changes, mainly due to human creations, which increasingly seek to facilitate living with the environment. Through this, technology becomes not only a facilitator, but something that generates power relations, making one that is a step ahead of technical developments, as a hegemony against those who are "behind" to such advances. This research had as main objective to analyze the Course of Computer Sciences of the UFCG as one of the sectors of the technical-scientific-informational environment in Campina Grande / PB, presenting its historical formation, normative regulation, its structure and academic productions, and analyzing its importance regional. To achieve these objectives, a bibliographical survey of the general context of the Course was carried out, as well as interviews. Historically, the municipality of Campina Grande, presented an important regional development, within a context in which it is inserted. For being initially a commercial warehouse, that attracted some facilitators of circulation of goods, like the train, and consequently altering its urbanistic design. Without denying the importance of regional agricultural production (cotton), which required industrial support for production. These characteristics attract to the municipality the need for skilled labor to use the technologies that lead to economic development, and the Polytechnic School, with the Engineering Courses, and later the Computer Science Course, which gave another City and regional technological academic production, being one of the five best courses in the country, and placing in Campina Grande outstanding characteristics of the technical-scientific-informational environment.
