Análise do crescimento urbano de Esperança - PB.

Abstract

Urban growth is one of the main studies carried out today, in small, medium or large cities. In this article, we propose to analyze the urban growth of the city of Esperança-PB, observing the factors that influence the dynamics of growth and expansion of the city. In the development of this work, urban growth analysis was based on the writings of important authors for Urban Geography, such as, Corrêa (1989), Clark (1991), Beaujeu-Garnier, (1997), Veiga (2004), Sposito (2004), Carlos (2007), Cavalcanti (2008), Souza (2011). The specific analysis of the growth of Esperança used basically two different procedures: a) the mapping of the city's urban spot in different periods (1970, 2010 and 2015); and b) the analysis of changes of use and feedback of the buildings through photographs and satellite images. These procedures allowed us to make comparisons and verify urban growth of Esperança, both in the horizontal and vertical directions. Through the problematic approach, it is concluded that the city grew along the access roads in the Southwest / Northeast direction, due to the transformations that occurred in the last decades due to the construction of houses, condominiums and companies, which together contributed to an expansion of pathways and growth of the built urban spot. On the other hand, the central part of the city undergoes several modifications, generally with tendencies for the use of vertical as modifier of the urban landscape s, besides the change of use of the residential structures for use the trade.
