Agroecologia, movimento social e campesinato no agreste da Paraíba.

Abstract

This thesis presents a study of the effects of the adoption of the agroecology on the local dynamics, being taken as reference, some experiences in the Agreste of Paraiba. The aim is to understand the general character of the agroecological perspective in this region that has had, in its process of constitution, a very strong presence of basis organizations (unions and associations) and socials movements, besides the consultantship and proximity with the civil society organizations – as the "non-governmental organizations" or the "NGOs”. So I decided to work with a qualitative methodology doing interviews with the peasants, the agents of the organizations and the technicians. What also contributed to the elaboration of this thesis were the direct observations through the field visits, the attendance in encounters where the actors involved in that process were present. The thesis is divided into four chapters, besides the introduction. In the two first chapters we work the conceptual and theoretical aspects of the agroecology, and in the subsequent chapters an analysis of the agroecology in the region is made using the data of the field research. It was seen that the agroecological perspective has brought new dynamics and a new identity for the local social articulation, involving different themes (hydrics resources, genetic resources, agroecological fairs ...). Here, if the social movement and its articulations in that context open space and give dynamism to the process for the development of the agroecology in the region for the fight and mobilization for the demands that appear, and for the continuity of the movement in itself, it also depends on the success of the agroecology as a productive practice, starting in the new relationships that are formed, including the sphere of the circulation.
