Abstract

The Shelter-Home is a long-term shelter (90 to 180 days) designed to assist married or single women, with children or not, who have been victims of domestic violence of any kind: physical, psychological, property, etc., at risk imminent death. The officialization of this institution as a socioassistance service only came in 2009, after years of struggle by the feminist movement. The range of research and production in this type of space is small, and there is no one model or standard that meets all demands. It is noteworthy that the distribution of this institution throughout the country is not capillarized by the interior, as is the case of Paraíba, where it has a single unit, in the capital João Pessoa. Therefore, the need for greater attention to this type of equipment is questioned, as well as a greater range of attendance, emphasizing here its importance in the recovery of women and families who have gone through or are going through situations of domestic violence. The theoretical support was based by bibliographical research and case studies. Interviews would be made with CRAM users for a better need understanding of women, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic it was not possible to carry them out. As in any architectural project, the demands don’t end when the result is delivered, therefore, the intention of the proposal was to present a possible solution that would meet, if not all, a good part of the needs, as well as, expose a unusual point of view from what is found in this type of space, understanding architecture as an instrument that transforms and makes quality of life and dignity possible.
