Intervenção Arqui(tectônica): estudo preliminar de restauro do Teatro Municipal Severino Cabral em Campina Grande - PB.

Abstract

Designed in 1962 by the draftsman (later a civil engineer by training) Geraldino Duda, the Teatro Municipal Severino Cabral, object of study of this work, is located in Campina Grande, in the rough of Paraiba. Implanted in the city center and on the banks of Avenida Floriano Peixoto, the Municipal Theater was born as a symbol from Campinas of modernity, progress and culture. It is proposed as a general objective, to develop a preliminary study of restoration of the Municipal Theater Severino Cabral Ribeiro, aiming at its preservation and adaptation to the current accessibility norms, as well as its functional updating. Buildings have a certain useful life, “are born” and “age”, and throughout this process, which includes, since their architectural and structural conception, choice of construction materials, execution of the work and use, buildings can suffer several damages resulting from failure one (or more) of these steps LICHTENSTEIN (1985). We can see this situation at Teatro Municipal S. C., 50 (fifty) years after its construction, which presents a sum of damages resulting from these factors. The theoretical framework consists of the discussions related to the conservation of modern architecture published by ZANCHETI (2004), MOREIRA (2010), DINIZ and AFONSO (2019), the tectonic studies carried out by AMARAL (2009); and the concepts of intervention and restoration in the built heritage treated by BRANDI (2013), KUHL (2018, 2015) and RIBEIRO (2016). The methodological contribution follows the analysis of the Architectural Dimensions proposed by AFONSO (2019), the Modern Form design methods proposed by PIÑÓN (2006) and the Relevant Form proposed by MAHFUZ (2004) for the analysis of the case studies.
