Considerações teóricas acerca da importância da cinoterapia como coadjuvante no tratamento de dependentes de álcool e outras drogas.

Abstract

The human-animal relationship has already been described by various periods throughout human evolution. The Dogtherapy, a therapeutic method in which the dog is used as the main part of the treatment as the stimulation instrument, strengthening and restoration of overall subject to be addressed. It is supporting actions in a therapeutic and educational process, not replacing conventional treatment. This study aims to carry out a thematic approach, in the form of literature review on the co-therapist role of dogs in the treatment of alcoholics and other drugs, trying to show the most varied techniques of Assisted Therapies for Animals (TAA's) existing and the audience reach that they have, in addition to clarifying the indispensable role of the veterinarian before meeting them and investigate public policies aimed at users of addictive substances, also the main methods of treatment and report the employment and the possibilities of using TAA's studied with the public. The dogtherapy also shown as a new resource in the quest for rehabilitation of other public such as the elderly, children with cognitive problems such as autistic example and those with Down syndrome and other children who are hospitalized in health care units, depressed adults, among others. There is proof of its effectiveness against problems of educational, social and therapeutic in the same way that it becomes a new form of insertion of the veterinarian in the labor market, and responsibility, especially universities, invest in research aimed at this target audience, seeking new paths in order to be always improving the existing public policies.
