Respostas fisiológicas de cabras Saanen em confinamento no Semi-árido Paraibano.

Abstract

Physiological responses of Saanen goats in confinement in the semi-arid region of Paraíba. This work aimed to evaluate the physiological answers of Saanen goats created in confinement, in the semiarid of Paraíba, in different shifts. Were used 16 Saanen goats, weighting between 45 to 50 Kg. Analyzing the environmental variables, it was verified that the Dry Bulb Temperature (DBT) was 29,5 °C and Humidity in the shade was 80,11, being this the average of the two shifts respectively, they were registered daily at 09:00 a.m and 03:00 p.m. The physiological parameters were observed through the Rectal Temperature (RT), Respiratory Frequency (RF) and Cardiac Frequency (CF), and were checked two times in a week, in the morning between 08:30 and 09:30 hours, and in the afternoon between 02:30 and 03:30 hours, respectively. There was significant effect of shift (P<0,05) to all the environmental variables. About the parameters RT and RF, there was significant effect (P<0,05) of shift, being the averages of the afternoon higher than of the morning (39,10 °C ; 77,62 mov/min), (38,87 °C; 44,45 mov/min) respectively. It can be concluded that the Saanen goats presented low capacity to tolerate the heat.
