Casuística de traumas em caninos e felinos atendidos no Hospital Veterinário da UFCG, no período de 2001 a 2010.

Abstract

Casuistry of trauma in canines and felines treated at the Veterinary Hospital of UFCG, from 2001 to 2010. The objective of this work was to determine the patients of trauma in canines and felines treated at the Veterinary Hospital of UFCG from 2001 to 2010, and it carried out a survey of the files of medical records relating to outpatient care sector in medical clinic small animals HV / UFCG where they were cataloged only the medical records related to traumatic processes in domestic canines and felines, setting out the main causes of trauma and correlated to age, sex and racial pattern to the nature of the trauma. Analyzed medical records of 16003, 12394 corresponded to canines and felines in 3609, and 1260 (10,2%) related to traumatic process in canines and 799 (22,13%) in felines. The highest rates of trauma were observed between the age of 0 to - 0,5 years, in both species. Regarding gender, the canines and felines males were the most affected with 58% and 70%, respectively. Regarding the breed standard, so how many canines felines without racial definition were the most involved in traumatic process with 56,5% and 87,1% of cases respectively. Among the causes of trauma, of unknown character were more incidents in canines (31,8%) and felines (44,3%). Regarding the season, there was no seasonal conditions the occurrence of traumatic processes in macroregion Patos / PB.
