Diagnóstico do uso do fogo em propriedades rurais nos limítrofes do Município de Patos - PB.

Abstract

Diagnosis of the use of fire in rural properties in the limits of the Municipality of Patos - PB. The use of the fire for rural proprietors is a common practice in the northeastern semiarid causing impacts many irreparable times to the atmosphere. This study aimed at to diagnose the use of the fire in rural properties in the bordering of the municipal district of Patos - PB. The resident population in the located rural properties along the highways in the bordering municipal districts of the city of Patos - PB as São José de Espinharas (to the north), São José do Bonfim (to the south), São Mamede, Quixaba and Cacimba de Areia (to east) and Santa Terezinha and Malta (to west) they were interviewed, in the period of March to September of 2010. In agreement with the results, the use of the burning for cleaning of the area for planting is a common practice in all of the researched municipal districts. The municipal districts of Cacimba de Areia and São Mamede obtained the largest percentile with 100% and 75%, of the interviewees affirming that you/they make use of that practice in their rural properties. The use of the fire is more frequent in the period of larger temperature and low humidity in the area semiarid, in other words, of October to December. In agreement with the rural producers, the largest damage than the use of the fire can provoke is the destruction of the vegetation and the main prevention practice against the fires mentioned by the interviewees is the use of firebreaks.
