Abordagem multidisciplinar na reabilitação protética de uma paciente com doença periodontal avançada: relato de caso clínico.

Abstract

Periodontal disease, when in more advanced states, can cause serious oral health problems, one of them is the possibility of losing teeth, and despite performing periodontal procedures, restorative success may not be obtained, requiring the association with prosthetic and surgical procedures in order to obtain a proper rehabilitation. This thesis aims to present a therapeutic modality for rehabilitation of a patient who, due to periodontal disease, had indication of multiple tooth extractions, describing the steps for clinical rehabilitation in these cases. In situations where the possibility of maintenance of the teeth is unviable, immediate dental prosthesis are good treatment options. Therefore, to ensure the success of a rehabilitation, it is often necessary do a detailed planning and a multidisciplinary approach in dental treatments, in order to consider points of various specialties, in order to define the best procedures and meet properly the needs of the patient, such as aesthetics, function and selfesteem, with a view to their anatomical and financial limitations.
