Marsupialização como tratamento definitivo de um cisto dentígero em paciente pediátrico: relato de caso.

Abstract

The dentigerous cyst is one of the most common odontogenic cysts and it is associated with the unerupted crowns of teeth. Objective: To report a clinical case of a dentigerous cyst in a pediatric treated through the marsupialization techinique. Case report: A healthy, 10-year-old female patient was referred to the Academic League of Surgery of the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG) for treatment of a cystic lesion associated with the 35 tooth that was intraosseous. Clinically, a vestibular bony bulge was observed in the region of the teeth 74 and 75 that presented cavities. The imaging test showed a radiolucent area surrounding the tooth 35. The diagnostic hypothesis was a dentigerous cyst adn which was confirmed by histopathological and the recommended treatment was the extraction of teeth 74 and 75 associated with marsupialization followed by enucleation of the cystic lesion, under local anesthesia, aiming to support the eruption of teeth 34 and 35. Results: The histopathological report confirmed the diagnosis of dentigerous cyst. In the postoperative of 9-months after the marsupialization, new bone formation was seen in the area previously occupied by the lesion, and teeth 34 and 35 are in occlusion and with pulp vitality. No signs of recurrence of the lesion are observed. Conclusion: Correct and early diagnosis of maxillary cysts helps to choose a conservative treatment. The use of teeth associated with dentigerous cyst in pediatric patients should be a determining factor in the choice of treatment.
