Frenectomia lingual: relato de caso.

Abstract

Ankyloglossia a developmental anomaly of the tongue characterized by short lingual frenun, which compromises the movements of the tongue. Frenun is a median mucous fold connecting the ventral side of the tongue to the floor of the mouth. Considering cases found in the literature, the bridle can be classified as short, with anteriorized and short insertion with anteriorized insertion. In order to solve the implications of ankyloglossia, conservative treatments such as speech therapy and non-conservative such as frenectomy/frenotomy are suggested. Objective and case report: to describe a case of ankyloglossia in a pediatric 9 years old patient, referred to the Clinic School of Dentistry of UFCG, presenting a short and anteriorized lingual frenun, which was treated with frenectomy. Conclusion: Frenectomy surgery was able to provide part of the normal functions of the tongue to the patient.
