(Des)humanização em tela: a triste vivência e dolorosa partida dos sertanejos em Vidas Secas (1963).

Abstract

In this monograph I propose to analyze the construction of the image of the farmer man connected to migration and the process of humanization and dehumanization of identity through the film Vidas Secas (1963), in order to understand the intentions and the aesthetic canon behind the regionalist themes. Adapted from the literary work of writer Graciliano Ramos, this feature film was charged with implementing a new conception of production, style, and aesthetics that has unsettled researchers from various Fields. Therefore, this study seeks to elucidate the image produced by the film about the characters in the feature film, specifically the migrant Fabiano and the relationship of this figure with the historical and cultural debate, with the migration issue, and the nuances that corroborated the construction of a representation pattern of the country man. This argumentative exposition will be developed from the analysis of the cinematographic image, especially through the technique of screen capture (screenshot). In the meantime, the argumentation of this work will be formulated from the field of Cultural History, having as theoretical support the authors Albuquerque Júnior (2011) and Tolentino (2001), who were fundamental to establish boundaries between the filmic exhibition and the historiographic debate.
