Uso da fisioterapia como tratamento de cães com afecções ortopédicas: revisão de literatura.

Abstract

Fisiotherapy is the cience of biomechanic, physical, anatomical, and physiological application for the sick person with disfunction, injury, pain or physical anormality. It is used in human beings since the antiquity and comes growing in the area of Veterinary Medicine in the last years. This review was aimed to show and to evaluate the fisiotherapy madalities used in Veterinary Medicine. The cinesitherapy treats by the movement that strengthen the muscles and improve the muscular resistence, the massage relaxes and decrease the pain, the hidrotherapy uses the water with therapeutical purpose decreasing the impacto n the joints, the thermotherapy applies therapeutical heat and relaxes muscular fibers, the criotherapy removes the heat of the body and promote analghesy, the eletrotherapy - TENS uses electric chain in the relief of the pain. For the treatment of osteoartrosis criotherapy has been used ultra-saund, cinesitherapy and hidrotherapy, for breakings has been used ultra-sound, cinesiotherapy and hidrotherapy, for the coxofemoral displasy the techniques that has been used are ultra-sound, criotherapy, cinesiotherapy and hidrotherapy and finally in the aseptic necrosis of the head of femur the reanable is make with criotherapy, eletrotherapy - TENS and cinesiotherapy. It was verifyed in the treatment of the orthopedic afeccions that Fisiotherapy in Veterinary Medicine is a resource of great importance in the reaneble of the animal.
