Respostas fisiológicas, termográficas e desempenho produtivo de ovinos mestiços alimentados com sal forrageiro de faveleira (Cnidoscolus quercifolius Pohl).

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of faveleira fodder salt supplementation with different levels of NaCl,the effectof different coats andshifts,on the physiological, hematological and productive responsesof crossbred sheep, ½ blood Dorper and ½ bloodSanta Inêsin confinement,as well to studythe use of infrared thermographyin veterinary medicine and animal production.The work was carried out in thesheep sector ofResearch Center for the Development of Semi-Arid(NUPEÁRIDO) – UFCG.Were used30 male sheepuncastratedcrossbred (½ Santa Inês x ½ dorper)confined and fedwithgrass hay Tifton – 85, water and faveleira fodder salt, ad libitum.In the experiment of physiological responsesthe animals were distributed in a completely randomized design. The diets do not promote pathological changes in the blood, as well as not cause changes in the rectal temperature and respiratory rate of the animals,however change the ST and thermal gradients.The afternoon shift, stimulates the increase in physiological responses and the reduction of thermal gradients.The second article it is abouta literature review on the use of infrared thermography in theveterinary medicine and animal production.It was observed through research, that infrared thermography is a technology that can be applied in various fields of veterinary medicine and animal production,with great efficiency and use in variousobjectiveswith the most different species,beingan important alternative to conduct the collection of data with accuracy and precision, preserving thewelfare and animal comfort.The third study aimed to evaluate the intake and productive performance of crossbred lambs supplemented with different levels of faveleira fodder salt It was used 30 sheeps, distributed in a completely randomized with five treatments (faveleira fodder salt (FFS) with 1,3,5 and 7% NaCl, besides the control treatment without inclusion of FFS )and six repetitions.It was found thateven in smaller quantities, the faveleira hay together with Tifton,were able toto dispose for the animalsa suitable quantity of nutrient, for a good daily weight gain. The inclusion of faveleira up to 99% in the formulation of fodder salt,not affect the voluntary intakeof forage, as well as does not prejudicethe water consumption, the dry matter intake,the daily weight gain and the conversion and feed efficiency.Lambs supplemented with faveleira fodder salthave levels of weight gainwithin the optimum range for the slaughter, and good levels ofconversion and feed efficiency, proving the potential this eudicotiledonea as an important alternative in the supplementation of sheep.
