Prevalência das lesões da mucosa oral em uma população do Sertão Paraibano.

Abstract

Prevalence of oral mucosa lesions in a population of Sertão Paraibano. Objectives: To analyze the prevalence of oral mucosa lesions diagnosed in the patients of the Clinical School of Dentistry of the Federal University of Campina Grande from July to December 2017. Materials and methods: This is an observational, prospective, quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional data study. Patient information was collected over a period of 6 months by the application of a card at the end of each clinical appointment, and imported to statistical software such as Excel and SPSS (Statistical Pack- age for the Social Sciences). Results: During the collection period, 137 patients were attended, of which 33 presented oral alterations. Of these, 63,6% were women, with a mean of ±47 years. Among the diagnostic hypotheses generated, 13 (39,39%) of them had a final diagnosis. The prevalent oral lesion was candidiasis, covering 23,9% of the cases, and the lip was the most affected site, with 36,4% of the sample. Conclusion: It was verified that the female gender was the most affected in relation to the lesions / oral alterations and these occurred more frequently between the fourth and fifth decade of life, with the lip being the most affected location. The nodule and papule were the most found fundamental lesions, and among the potentially malignant disorders, leukoplakia and actinic cheilitis had equivalent frequencies.
