Avaliação de tratamentos endodônticos com realização de ampliação foraminal.

Abstract

The present study aimed to evaluate through clinical and radiographic examination the evolution and success index of the endodontic treatment performed using the apical foramen enlargement technique. It is an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive study that, through the analysis of 397 records, 162 patients met all the inclusion criteria and were selected for the study, of which 25 of which 25 attended for participation in the study. All were submitted to clinical and radiographic examination for the analysis of each case, which presented a proservation time varying between 1- 4 years. The data were cataloged and the final and proservation radiographs were evaluated by three examiners, who followed the periapical evaluation index (PI) score. The index rated the degree of cured and uncured teeth, indicating the percentage of success or failure before the operative technique involving foraminal enlargement during endodontic shaping. From the sample (N = 25), 23 elements obtained cure outcome and only 2 were finished as uncured. The treatments with diagnosis of vital pulp tissue showed 100% success. While the cases with present infection obtained 88.24% of success. In the cases of necrotic pulp with or without periradicular alteration, the majority obtained final success. It can be concluded that the foraminal enlargement technique allowed an expressive success rate, independent of the contamination or not in the root canal system for the evaluated teeth.
