Gengivite ulcerativa necrosante em paciente infantil com chikungunya: relato de caso.

Abstract

Necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis (NUG) is part of a group of diseases that affects the periodontium of serious and rare form, characterized by gingival necrosis areas. In children, is a find even more unusual, and when it occurs, is usually related to some systemic impairment of the individual. The aim of this study was to report a case of Necrotizing ulcerative gingivitis in a child with clinical diagnosis of Chikungunya. This is a patient of 8 years of age, male gender, who searched the clinic School of dentistry UFCG complaining of pain in the gums ". Clinically observed presence of necrosis limited to vestibular and gingival margin at interdental papillae tips in the region upper anterior. For the diagnosis, there was the presence of characteristic signs of the disease, such as: pain, difficulty feeding and cleaning, gingival necrosis, foul odor and candidiasis. Conservative treatment was done with scraping and planing root cleaning and coronary with 10 volumes hydrogen peroxide and prescription mouthwashes with 0.12% chlorhexidine to twice daily for 15 days, without requiring the use of antibiotics. The involvement by the Chikungunya has been primary factor for the appearance of the GUN, because there's a lower imunidadede, allowing the appearance of clinical signs of disease. Monitoring was carried out for almost a month, where there was the complete re-establishment of the periodontal health of the patient.
