Abstract

In dentistry interdisciplinary interaction is the key to improving the aesthetic results. When dental and periodontal changes affect the harmony of the smile, there is a need to add multidisciplinary procedures to achieve the desired aesthetic. This work had the objective to report a case of restoring a patient smile harmony that previously had a ceramic crown with metal intraradicular cast retainer and constant inflammation of the gingival margin in the dental element 21. The treatment was done by association orthodontic extrusion, periodontal surgery biological space recovery and prosthetic rehabilitation by means of metal-free crown, as well as the results obtained with this treatment modality. It was then concluded that it was observed success in the treatment proposed by the multidisciplinary team, returning to the aesthetics and function of the tooth. Thus, it emphasizes the importance of interdisciplinarity in dentistry, in this case, is from the aesthetic evaluation of the case the need to maintain periodontal health for the installation of permanent rehabilitation. It is important to know and respect the biological distances periodontium as well as the correct diagnosis and treatment plan when its violation.
