| ???metadata.dc.description.resumo???: | O presente estudo objetivou caracterizar quais são os principais fatores de medo frente ao atendimento odontológico em crianças de 6 a 12 anos de idade, determinando o perfil e percentual dessa população que o apresenta. A pesquisa foi realizada na Clínica-Escola de Odontologia da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande e Unidades Básicas de Saúde da Família localizadas no município de Patos- PB com uma amostra de 200 crianças com idade média de 8,5 anos. O instrumento utilizado para a mensuração do medo foi o questionário Dental Fear Survey. Após a coleta, os dados foram analisados estatisticamente através dos testes Qui-Quadrado e Exato de Fisher com ajuda do Statistical Package for Social Sciences. Os resultados apontaram um alto percentual de crianças com medo frente ao atendimento odontológico (92%) e que o principal fator desencadeante de medo na clínica odontopediátrica foi a anestesia (observação da agulha – 68% e sentir a anestesia – 55%). Não houve diferenças estatísticas significativas entre medo e gênero (p=1,626) e medo e faixa etária (p=0,767). Conclui-se que foi alta a porcentagem de crianças com medo e que a submissão à anestesia odontológica foi vista como um procedimento desconfortável e associado à dor, estando fortemente relacionada com o desenvolvimento do medo. |
| Abstract: | This study aimed to characterize what are the main factors of fear during dental care in children aged 6 to 12 years old, determining the profile and percentage of this population. The research was conducted at the Clinic School of Dentistry of Federal University of Campina Grande and Family Basic Health Units located in the city of Patos-PB with a sample of 200 children with an average age of 8.5 years. The instrument used to measure the fear was the questionnaire Dental Fear Survey. After collection, the data were statistically analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Fisher's Exact with the help of Statistical Package for Social Sciences. The results showed a high percentage of children with fear during dental care (92%) and the main triggering factor of fear in the pediatric dental clinic was anesthesia (needle observation - 68% and feel the anesthesia - 55%). There were no statistically significant differences between fear and gender (p = 1.626) and fear and age (p = 0.767).We conclude that high was the percentage of children with fear and submission to dental anesthesia was seen as an uncomfortable and associated with pain procedure and is strongly related to the development of fear. |
