Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus: literature review and case report. Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease of inflammatory nature and multisystem involvement, whose clinical manifestations are quite variable. Regarding symptoms, can cause fatigue, fever, anorexia, joint stiffness and pain symptoms. The objective of this study was to report the diagnosis and oral treatment of a patient with SLE. One year after his appearance in clinical dental school, she returned with a large mouth nuisance due to dentin hypersensitivity in this patient time interval was diagnosed with SLE. Based on the need for better quality of life, due to the systemic condition of the patient, the laser therapy was the best treatment option for their hypersensitivity its lasting effect. During the diagnosis the presence of any cervical lesion was identified in the teeth of the patient, despite the presence of gingival recession. The treatment promoted the immediate reduction of pain, but even after conclusion, the presence of painful symptoms remained in a treatment of the teeth. Thus, it was possible to identify the advantages and disadvantages of this therapy and compare the clinical findings with the evidence from the literature.
