Avaliação da prevalência de lesões orais na Clínica Escola de Odontologia da Universidade Federal de Campina Grande, Patos - PB.

Abstract

The recognition of lesions that affect the oral cavity is essential for professional practice in dentistry and the knowledge of the frequency with which these conditions arise is essential to establish the diagnosis. Therefore, epidemiological studies have an important role in health and in relation to dentistry. The present work was accomplished to determine the prevalence of oral lesions at the clinical school of dentistry of the Federal University of Campina Grande correlating gender, age and race of patients. Through analysis of 541 records for two years, in the period 2012 to 2014, it was found that the most prevalent injury is fibrous hyperplasia with 33.3% followed by mild epithelial dysplasia with 16.6% of the samples. The most affected gender was female 55%, the afrocaucasian patients totaling 56% melanodermic 35% Caucasian and 9%. The age varies between the 2nd and 3rd decade of life.
