| ???metadata.dc.description.resumo???: | Essa dissertação tem como propósito estudar Mossoró - RN, entre os anos de 1872- 1930, a partir do periódico local O Mossoroense, primeiro jornal fundado na cidade. Debruçamos nosso olhar sobre essa fonte para analisarmos a forma como o mesmo descreve a modernidade em Mossoró. Esta deu-se principalmente através do processo de modernização, isto é, a aquisição de elementos do viver moderno como o próprio jornal, a luz, o cinema, o carro. Além disso, investigamos como a escrita do jornal descrevia e criava a cidade como estando irmanada com o novo, com o progresso. Investigamos também como o periódico criava um habitante ideal para transitar e fazer uso do espaço citadino: homem saudável, desprovido de vícios; mulher recatada e voltada para os afazeres do lar. Para tanto, dialogamos com a História Cultural, pois nos permite problematizar as formas como o passado pensava, nomeava e representava a si mesmo de modo a produzir sentidos que orientavam o habitante do passado a viver e a sentir o mundo. |
| Abstract: | This dissertation aims at studying Mossoró - RN, during the period between 1872 and 1930 through the local journal "O Mossoroense", first newspaper founded in the city. We study this source in order to analyze the way as it describes the modernity in Mossoró. Such modernity is result of the modernization process, that is, the acquisition of modern life elements as the newspaper, the light, the cinema, and the car. Furthermore, this research seeks to investigate how the newspaper writing describes and creates the city involved with the new, with the progress. We also investigate how the journal constructs an ideal inhabitant to pass and to use the city space: healthy man, without addictions; reserved woman worried with housework. In conclusion, we make a dialog with the Cultural History because it permits us to question the ways how the past thinks, nominates, and represents itself in a way to produce senses which orient the inhabitant from the past to live and to feel the world. |
