Análise sobre o tema educação ambiental em escola pública no Município de Taperoá - PB.

Abstract

As an educational perspective, environmental education should be present in school activities, developing itself in an interdisciplinary manner, to reflect about current issues and think of the world we want, and then, put into practice a worldwide ecologist line of thought. Environmental education should not be intended as a new discipline in the school curriculum, it needs to be an ally of the curriculum, in search of an integrated kind of knowledge in order to overcome fragmentation, based on knowledge itself. This paper examines how the subject of environmental education has been approached with students from 6th and 9th grades and what the vision of these students are regarding this issue. The research was conducted in public school in the city of Taperoá-PB in Paraiba’s cariri. The survey results were analyzed by means of questionnaires, in which the first part included the socio-demographic profile of the participant, and then the questionnaires related to the theme. For the questionnaires, the classrooms have chosen involved 107 students in elementary school, being 63 students from the 6th grade and 44 students from the 9th grade and six teachers from different subjects. The study began in November 2012, ending in August 2013. According to the results, it was observed that both the students and the teachers consider the Environmental Education as a very relevant subject and of significant importance to the school community. The survey revealed that Environmental Education is gradually inserting itself in the school system, as a need to create new attitudes in students in relation to the environment, thus ensuring greater awareness of the school community, using a systemic view for understanding the socioeconomic and environmental context and giving the students a critical insight that allows them to act as a citizen and a professional, in order to improve environmental quality. Education progresses on the path of offering alternatives to the formation of individuals that build a better future.
