Biologia reprodutiva e desenvolvimento larvário de Pleurodema diplolister Peters, 1870 (Anura: Leptodactylidae) em áreas de caatinga, Paraíba, Brasil.

Abstract

The species Pleurodema diplolister is an species adapted to excavate and to live under the ground, and has an explosive reproductive strategy. The objective of this paper is to to study regarding the reproductive aspects and larval development of the species in temporary puddles in Caatinga areas, located in the county of Patos and Passagem, in the State of Paraíba. The reproduction activities initiated there upon the heavy rains from the months of January to March of 2017. There was the observation of axillary embrace (n=3), spawning construction in foam nests, where the male carries out rhythmic beats of his hind limbs to construct it. There was satellite behavior and agonitcs meetings. Were collected one collective spawn and one couple for the pseudo copulation to be carried out in the laboratory. The collective spawn was divided in two spawns, which these were added in separated aquariums, where 9 development stages were obtained for the collective spawn 1 and 13 stages for the collective spawn 2. For the couple, the number of stages observed was 18. The reproductive aspects of P. diplolister observed in the present study may be adaptations in response to the conditions found in the Caatinga biome.
