Alice no sul maravilha: um estudo do Romance Quarenta dias, de Maria Valéria Rezende.

Abstract

Self-knowledge is something of extreme importance in the journey of the human being, for the construction of an identity. In order to find with itself, each individual chooses the best way to achieve such a feat, whether through a journey or a pilgrimage through obscure and unknown places. Often, the search for oneself takes the subject to the bottom of the well, and from there, it can come out redone. In our research, we look at how a fictional character embarks on a journey to her own self, what conditions lead her to choose this process and what its consequences. We will analyze Alice, protagonist of the work Forty Days, by Maria Valéria Rezende. We will address issues such as social exclusion, the abandonment of the elderly, the conflicts of maternity, the segregation of Brazilians living in exile in their own homeland. Through Alice, we will study the social construction of a complex character and her relationships with her daughter and with those she meets in the streets. To help us analyze such aspects, we will use authors who talk about women and identities, such as Beauvoir (1980), Hall (2002), Biroli (2018), Del Priore (1997/2013), Rodrigues (2016), among others. Through this study, we want to expose problems for a better reflection of the issues that we are going to address.
