Aspectos da degradação ambiental no município de Paulista - PB.

Abstract

The semiarid region of Northeastern Brazil has suffered serious environmental degradation processes, which in turn have great repercussions on the socioeconomic aspects and changes in the aspects of the natural environment. The proposal of this monographic work is to identify the processes of environmental degradation that occur in the municipality of Paulista-PB, in the period 2018 to 2020. The methodology of this work was based on the bibliographic research, for the theoretical basis, and on the field research, used with the objective of obtaining records of land use and management, identification of the processes and measurement of these areas for analysis of the level of degradation and probable formation of desertification nuclei in the municipality. High environmental degradation processes were observed in the study area, especially erosions and small desertification centers distributed by the municipality. The impacts identified were caused by the use of rudimentary techniques, mainly, deforestation, burning for soil management, for the performance of livestock and agricultural activities. Some suggestions to decrease the impacts of these degraded areas are the use of conservation practices for soil management, such as: crop rotation, reforestation in springs, terracing, to decrease erosion, crop level curve among others. In this way it will be possible to reverse the environmental degradation framework and conserve environmental quality for all citizens.
