Abstract

In this work, we try to analyze the construction of melancholy in poems by Antonio Joaquim Pereira da Silva and highlight the relevance of his work Solitudes, considering the reception of the same by literary critic. The present research seeks to reflect on the performance of a poet in a certain period of the literature observing the characteristics of his poems. We make a brief check on the life and work of Pereira da Silva, aiming to highlight it within the melancholic context to which it was classified and for this, we base ourselves on a bibliographical revision as to the critical fortune of the same, contemplating the authors view: Dutra (1996), Fernandes Dias (1996), Elysio de Carvalho (1996), Luiz, Carlos (1996), Muricy Andrade (1996), Barbosa (2014), Both make pertinent notes about the author and his works. Our theoretical foundation was based on the conceptions about melancholy in literature the author: Chico Viana and in Psychoanalysis the authors: Sigmund Freud (1917), Antônio Quinet (2002), Lacan (2002), Wilhelm Griensger. For the reading of the poems starting from the approach of interpretation, thematic, language and structure: Bosi (1977), Goldstein (1998), Pound (2006).
