Mulheres de classe média em Sumé: concepções e vivências de violência contra a mulher.

Abstract

The present research aimed at understanding the perception that middle-class women in Sumé-PB have of violence against women. To this end, the qualitative methodology was chosen, because we believe that this type of approach can capture a large number of elements in greater depth. During data collection, a total of eight semi-structured interviews were conducted during the month of March 2023. The results of this research show that the perceptions of middle-class women in the municipality of Sumé are strongly related to the place of social class they occupy. This class demarcator is confirmed in the participants' speeches, when they express themselves: 1) about what violence against women is; 2) about which women suffer domestic and family violence the most; 3) about the motivations that sustain relationships in marital conflicts among Sumé's middle class and, 4) when they relate their own stories of violent experiences.
