Educação do campo e territórios em disputa: o fechamento da Escola Rural E. M. E. I. F. José Abel de Souza da Comunidade Mata Fresca – Bom Jesus - PB.

Abstract

The main objective of this work is to seek to understand the causes that resulted in the closure of Early Childhood Education classes and the initial years of Elementary School at E.M.E.I.F José Abel de Souza in the Mata Fresca community, rural area of Bom Jesus-PB. Discussing this from a perspective that understands the closure of schools in the countryside as part of the project to empty the countryside resulting from the dispute over territory. The relevance of this work lies in collaborating with research on field education from a geographic focus. The research methodology consisted of carrying out a bibliographical survey, fieldwork, interviews and finally an analysis based on the readings and information obtained. From this it was possible to understand that the decrease in the number of students caused the closure of the José Abel de Souza school and that this is a reflection of the decrease in the number of residents in the communities served by the school. Despite the decrease in the number of students, this work seeks to discuss the possibility of reactivating classes at the José Abel de Souza school and that this action must be carried out in conjunction with the implementation of other public policies for the countryside.
