Abstract: | An experimental investigation was carried out to determine the influence of high salinity and organochlorine substances on the performance of an activated iodine system. In the first step, it was found that concentrations of up to 20 g / l gl in the wastewater did not affect the removal efficiency of organic material. In the second stage, the effect of four organochlorine substances on activated iodine activity was tested using the batch regime: trichloropropane (TCP), dichloroethane (DCE), trichloromethane (chloroform) and carbon tetrachloride. Applying concentrations up to 1000 mg / l, only trichloropropane caused a significant temporary reduction of iodine activity at concentrations above 500 mg / l. It was established that the removal of TCP from the liquid phase occurs through desorption, with no biological removal or adsorption to iodine. |
