dc.description.resumo	A Constituição republicana estabeleceu o Estado laico no Brasil e colocou o antigo poder da Igreja Católica em uma situação desconfortável, já que ela perdera sua posição de religião oficial, e sua rede de ação e influência na sociedade diminuíra. Assim, para fazer frente a essa situação política e garantir sua sobrevivência institucional, a Igreja procurou intensificar o processo de romanização da sociedade brasileira, usando, para tanto, estratégias no campo interno (congressos, abertura e reforma dos seminários, vinda de religiosos da Europa e unidade pastoral dos bispos), e no externo (comunicações públicas por meio das cartas pastorais e da imprensa, visitas pastorais, conferências e liturgias), que produziram sua reorganização no período que vai de 1889 a 1930. O objetivo desta comunicação é de analisar parte dessas estratégias.	pt_BR

dc.description.abstract	The Republican Constitution established the secular state in Brazil and put the ancient power of the Catholic Church in an awkward situation, since it lost its position as the official religion, and its network of action and influence in society diminished. So to deal with this political situation and ensure its institutional survival, the Church sought to reinforce the Romanization process of Brazilian society, using, for both, strategies in the infield (congresses, opening and reform of seminaries, religious coming from Europe and pastoral unity of the bishops), and the external (public communications through pastoral letters and the press, pastoral visits, conferences and liturgies), which produced its reorganization in the period from 1889 to 1930. The objective of this paper is to analyze some of these strategies.	pt_BR
