Proteção e garantia de direitos da criança e do adolescente na agenda da categoria do serviço social

Abstract

Considering the current scenario of violations of the rights of children and adolescents from a Brazilian perspective, we aim, through this monograph, to analyze how the contemporary political agenda of the category of social workers in Brazil contributes to overcoming the minority culture and endorses the conception of this public as subjects of rights. In addition to identifying to what extent the Federal Social Service Council, as one of the main entities representing social workers, has been expressing its position, articulating the role of social workers from the perspective of promoting, protecting and defending the human rights of children and adolescents and understand conflicts, competing interests and challenges that put pressure on the materialization of protection for children and adolescents in today's Brazil. We carried out qualitative research based on bibliographic and documentary sources, especially legislation and publications called CFESS MANIFESTA, widely disseminated in the professional category. These documents were selected for our research, since, in recent times, they express the entity's political positions and the category's fighting agenda. In this way, we realized that, despite having laws that effectively guarantee and protect children's rights, the reality based on the documents analyzed for this research contradicts the legal standard, which allowed us to conclude that social workers must act together with other sectors and various professionals to try to change this reality that affects the lives of children and adolescents in Brazil.
