O Serviço Social e os espaços escolares: ressignificações na cidade de Marizópolis-PB

Abstract

Since the enactment of Law 13,935/2019, the educational reforms, and the contribution of other sciences in the school environment, Social Work has spread its influence in these aspects as an important contributor to human development and methodologies for addressing social issues. The school plays a prominent role in society, as it is constantly challenged to connect the knowledge developed within the school context with the experiences and social aspects of the students. As early as the 1930s, when the aim was to provide quality and free education for all citizens, the school aimed to understand and address the diverse social realities of its students, serving as a bridge between school and family. In this regard, a historical research was conducted, employing a methodology that involved investigating documentary sources, such as internal regulations, the number of schools and their spaces, the offered educational levels, mapping and coordination of intersectoral networks, adaptation of professional roles and competencies to the school context, an Action Plan outlining possible activities to be developed, utilization of legislation, as well as relevant literature in Social Work related to the field of Education. Following these processes, it is concluded that the social worker, with their knowledge regarding citizens' rights, can mediate the relationship between the school and the community, thereby contributing to the school fulfilling its social function and ensuring the fundamental rights of the population.
