Neste texto, nos interessa pensar os novos sentidos agregados à mítica figura, nascida no além-mar no início do século XVII, quando do seu desembarque nos trópicos, em terras sertanejas, às vésperas do século XXI. |
| Abstract: | Lourdes Ramalho’s Romance do Conquistador is her answer to the challenge of rewriting in cordel language the myth of Don Juan for the stage. In so doing, she introduces us to a character that not only exists in the popular imaginary of the Brazilian Northeast, but who actually walks around as a living presence through the bushes of the backlands. In this paper our interest is to analyze the new meanings that were added to that mythical figure - born overseas in the early 17th-Century – when he starts his journey in the scorched lands of the tropics on the eve of the 21st-Century. |
