| ???metadata.dc.description.resumo???: | Estimaram-se as correlações genéticas do peso (P12) de machos aos 12 meses de idade com peso (PPP) e idade ao primeiro (IPP) parto, peso adulto (PAD) e parâmetros A e k da curva de Von Bertalanffy de fêmeas, na raça Canchim. As correlações genéticas de P12 com as características das fêmeas, obtidas pelo método da máxima verossimilhança restrita, foram iguais a: 0,19 (A); 0,62 (k); -0,58 (IPP); 0,69 (PPP) e 0,60 (PAD), indicando que a seleção para aumentar P12 nos machos deve resultar em respostas desejáveis em IPP e k das fêmeas, mas com aumentos em PPP e PAD. |
| Abstract: | The genetic correlations of male body weight (MW12) at 12 months of age with female weight (BWFC) and age (AFC) at first calving, adult weight (AW), and mature weight (A) and maturation rate (k) obtained using the Von Bertalanffy model, were estimated. The genetic correlations, obtained by the restricted maximum likelihood method, were: 0.19 (parameter A), 0.62 (parameter k), -0.58 (AFC), 0.69 (BWFC), and 0.60 (AW). These results indicate that selection to increase male body weight at 12 months of age should result in favorable changes in AFC and parameter k of females, but with increases in BWFC and AW. |
